Masia Escrigas is a country home that was built in 1905 with profits obtained from the harvest. The heir of the family studied in France, very prestigious at that time, where he learned music and poetry. Once he came back to Merles Valley, he collaborated with several Catalan magazines.
He was an intelligent man, and a good friend of his friends. During summer days it was common to see over forty people reunited around his table.
Many distinguished personalities of that era, and that with the years have been recognised for their work, passed through this house.
His heir died when he was in his literary peak, and the death of his first son may have been the cause of his death. During the long days  of his son’s sickness, Vilarmau wrote a collection of poems where he illustrates his pain and deep faith. The most important of these poems is the one he wrote on the day of his son’s death.
